  • Make sure you always scan floppy disks, CDs and DVDs before using on your computer.

  • Be very wary of opening emails with attachments from senders you do not recognise.

  • Never open attachments with .exe, .vbs and .scr extensions.

  • Be very wary of emails requesting financial and personal information – contact organisation before taking any action.

 

If a problem occurs on your PC, taking regular backups of your important files means you have a copy.

  • Always make regular backups of important documents to portable devices e.g. CD or USB mini drive

  • Before installing or upgrading make sure you carry out a backup of essential files.

  • If you suspect a problem with your computer carry out a backup as soon as possible.
